Born and raised in Everett, Washington, I left for Portland, Oregon after receiving an Associates Degree from Everett Community College. In Portland, I attended the Bassist Institute and graduated in 1972 specializing in Interior Design.

I began my career in Portland working in residential interiors. Within four years I was hired by a commercial firm to focus on corporate and office interiors. This included a large emphasis on space planning and ergonomic issues.

Photo of Susan Rodgers In 1980 I became part of an independent design team: Loeb & Rodgers Interiors. Independence allowed me to work in both commercial and residential interiors. Independence also allows access to unlimited resources, and many forms of professional collaboration.

In 1986 Design Connection began as a custom interiors firm. I believe my clients have good ideas. They use me to put those ideas — expanded and detailed — into reality. My business is design/sales. We charge hourly fees for design development and offer quotations for products specified.

October of 1997 brought Design Connection to Kingston, Washington. The move to Kingston developed from a desire to be closer to family and the open waters of northwest Washington. In essence I have come "home". Happily, I still have many clients in Oregon, so my work continues wherever I am called.
